24 February, 2015

Hi all

I sat down this morning to upload my photos from the last month and write my blog …. then, I discovered that I’ve ‘lost’ my camera!  The last time I had it was on Rottnest Island and I’ve phoned everywhere there including the ferry and, although they tell me they have a multitude of iphones, there is no camera.

So, suffice to say I’ve had a great month but not many pics to show you.  Rob arrived on 2 February and we did the coast down to Augusta.  Would have gone further to Albany but there were terrible bush fires in the area.

We also did Swan Valley, Penguin Island and Rottnest Island and had a wonderful time though, needless to say, we have both gained a kg or 2 and are now busily ‘drying out’!

I’m so sad about the loss of my pics.  Don’t really care about the camera, which can be replaced, but some of the pics captured great memories.  Darn!!!

Looks like my blog won’t be updated until March when I have had the chance to get another camera and take some more pics of my travels.

Am sad, sad, sad!  But, I hope you’re all happy, happy, happy.  Talk soon.

  1. Hi Lynne

So sad to hear of the loss of your photos. We love the blog – what a wonderful way to see Oz. We are having an informal fish and chips tomorrow night if you are free!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had a lot of rain (220 mm) after the cyclone but no wind and no hint of flooding. Everything is growing like mad but then you don’t have a lawn to mow. Hope Freya is performing well.

    Kind regards

    Graeme

    Best wishes

  2. I have just caught up with your blog … what an amazing journey. I have used google maps to follow your tracks. Brings backs lots of lovely memories of time we spent in the SW corner of WA around to Esperance. You have some stunning pics of a magical place.
I hope Betty is not too upset that Graeme had forgotten her name!
Very sorry to hear about your camera. How frustrating.
It is March tomorrow so hopefully there will be some pics and more blog soon.
    Happy travels, Lynne.

    1. Good to hear from you Lynne and Graeme. Betty doesn’t mind what you call her as long as she’s along for the adventure. I’ll be leaving Perth on 22 March and gradually heading north to swim with the whale sharks in Exmouth sometime around May. Did you two get that far?

      1. No, unfortunately. Sounds wonderful. Will you go to Monkey Mia? The whole area looks fantastic on google maps! However, a good place not to be at present with a cyclone bearing down.

  3. Hi Lynne

Sad to hear about the loss of those precious pics. You’ll just have to go back at some stage and recapture the moments. I will have to wait until your next blog to update my folder.
In August Steve and I are doing a 10-day tour of China’s Rural Villages (Changhai / Guilin – Yangshuo – Longji – Sangiang) and finishing off with a 5-day cruise down the Yangtze River. So looking forward to that.
On 9 December we’re heading to Fiji (Shangri La – Coral Coast) for 7 nights, then home for 3 days, then off to Moreton Island from 19 to 26 Dec; followed by a trip to NZ (no dates set for that yet). So some exciting times ahead. We will re-visit the nomad thing when I eventually stop work (maybe mid-2016).

Looking forward to your next update. Keep on having fun and look after yourself and Betty.

    Best Wishes

    Marie

  4. by the way i’ve just noticed that the time of my comments above is registered as 5:06am – it’s should actually be 3:06pm ???? is that because the settings in your blog is wrong?

  5. Lynne – You are being very stoic about the loss of your camera. I would have thrown quite a therapeutic tanti.
I am soooooooo sorry I have missed both your phone calls. I have sent you a couple of emails begging forgiveness for losing your phone number and asking your indulgence in sending it to me AGAIN. (I’m 60 now and an old croc…)

Your fabulous card arrived on Monday – Lynne you are a honey! Thank you. There were 13 wonderful women around the table on Saturday night (I didn’t count and thought there was only going to be 12 – had visions of the ‘last supper’ etc….) waited on by three amazingly capable cabana boys and chauffeurs.) BUT YOU WEREN’T THERE!! So we have to do it all again when you are back with Betty.
You are greatly missed dear one. Send me your phone # / SKYPE handle and we’ll have a chat.
    Love,
    Joy x
